BUY ONE GIVE ONE
Wouldn’t it be nice if every time you bought yourself a pair of jeans or some nice makeup, you knew that someone in the world was getting the same thing?
Imagine even further. What if you knew that when you bought a menstrual cup for yourself, another cup would go to a girl who desperately needed one?
That is exactly what happens when you buy a Pixie Cup.
"For women in North America, it (a menstrual cup) makes your period simple and hassle-free. For women in developing countries, it can be a life-changing solution."
-The Huffington Post
When we first decided to design a menstrual cup that would enable women to experience period freedom, we little imagined the incredible difference that it would make in so many lives! It only took a few months of planning for us to realize that we could do so much more than provide an affordable cup to women in the United States: we could also provide FREE Pixie Cups to women across the world!
That is why, for every Pixie Cup that is purchased, we give one away to a woman in need.
"...It is more blessed to give than to receive." -Acts 20:35
There are women here in the United States as well as countless women living in developing countries that cannot purchase proper sanitary products because they are too expensive or unavailable! If you thought we have period-phobia in the United States, you should see what women in other cultures have to deal with! Some women are even shut in a hut or forced to stay home from work or school because of their periods. A menstrual cup allows women to live normally all month long, with the freedom that all people should be able to experience!
We are so thankful and honored to work with many non-profit organizations both here in the United States and in various countries around the world! In fact, since we launched our Buy One Give One program in the summer of 2017, Pixie has donated over 21,000 Pixie Cups to women in need!
Our first partnership for our Buy One Give One program was through Generation Next. This non-profit organization was founded by Riley Snyder and is local to us in our hometown of Branson, Missouri. Each summer, Riley and her team take Pixie Cups and menstrual hygiene kits to Kenya and distribute them to rural communities and schools! With the help of local nurses, they host educational classes where they teach women how to use and care for their Pixie Cup.
You can read more about Riley and her heart for Kenya here.
Nadya Okamoto and Vincent Forand co-founded PERIOD as high school students in 2014 after realizing that menstrual products are not reliably available to those who need them the most. Their organization seeks to provide hygiene products to women in need. PERIOD distributes Pixie Cups to various organizations helping women in need all over the United States. Last year, PERIOD sent nearly a thousand Pixie Cups to Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria. This year PERIOD sent over 8,000 Pixie Cups to aid the socio-economically disadvantaged situations in Venezuela.
Dana Marlowe founded I Support the Girls to collect and distribute bras and menstrual hygiene products. Their mission is to restore dignity and self-respect to women whether they be homeless, refugees, in transitional housing, or fleeing domestic violence. Dana distributes Pixie Cups to vetted shelters and organizations that educate women on how to use and care for their Pixie Cup.
We also partnered with the resident and staff physicians at the LSU SOM-New Orleans Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and supplied them with 1,600 Pixie Cups for a pilot program they launched through the New Orleans Mission to serve homeless women in New Orleans. They took in approximately 30 women per night for eight weeks and provided them with fresh meals and bathroom facilities. Each woman received a Pixie Cup and LSU provided free healthcare via the medical students.
We partner with Convoy of Hope to send thousands of Pixie Cups to women in need here in the States through their Rural Compassion program.
One of our recent partnerships has been The LA Dream Center where we are able to give 5,000 Pixie Cups every quarter. The Pixie Cups are being used by women in their residential and outreach programs which include human trafficking rescue, emergency rescue, transitional housing for the homeless, weekly adoptive block outreaches and more.
No one should have to stay home from work or school because they don't have access to menstrual hygiene products.
We are so grateful for the many non-profit organizations that we work with, and we are always looking for more, all around the world! If you know of an organization that would fit our mission perfectly, please contact us and let us know!
