We get asked this question all the time…. what do you do when your Pixie Cup needs to be emptied and you only have access to a PUBLIC bathroom? This moment sounds terrifying, but don’t worry, the solution is simple!

We are going to share with you the THREE secrets to surviving the menstrual-cup-in-a-public-bathroom dilemma! *insert wild cheers*

Wait! ✋Before we move forward, we want you to keep in mind that a Pixie Cup can hold a large amount of liquid, so there are not many days that you will need to empty your cup in a public bathroom. However, those days still come up occasionally and we want to make sure you are prepared, so keep reading to disclose the promised secrets to success!

Pixie Cup products for cleaning period cup in public restroom

1. Be creative!

I can tell you from personal experience that there is almost always a Pixie-Cup-friendly bathroom option wherever there is a public restroom. Whether it be a family bathroom, a Starbucks one person stall type of restroom, or a handicap restroom which often includes a separate small sink, there are lots of restroom options. Plus, the Pixie Cup holds enough fluid that you can change your cup whenever it is most convenient, and it will last for several hours, or even all day, depending on your flow amount!

2. Rinse your cup in the stall.

Sometimes there is not an actual sink option, so you have to think a little outside of the box. Some of our Pixie girls like to keep a mini bottle of water in their purse and use it in the stall to gently rinse out the cup. Personally, I like to use the Pixie CupCup as a portable sink. I simply fill it with water before entering the stall, drop my cup inside, seal the top, shake it a bit, and the cup comes out nice and clean!

3. Bring along some wipes.

Looking for a different option that is mess-free? You can buy a package of feminine hygiene wipes and keep a couple in your purse in a small bag! This is perfect to give your cup a quick wipe and clean your fingers a bit before you exit the stall. These also are good to use to make sure your hands are clean before removing your cup. We also sell Pixie Wipes that are compact and cute! I always have a couple in my purse, just in case!

If you’re still not sure if you’re ready to use your Pixie Cup outside your home, remember that even if it takes a while to get used to using your cup in public, a few awkward moments are a good trade for longterm period freedom.

Stay smiling, and keep living free!
